Departure from the parking lot of the Island of the Dead in Moriago della Battaglia.
It is a naturalistic-monumental itinerary along the Piave river, where the offensive of the Battle of the Solstice began, which led to the conquest of Vittorio Veneto at the end of the First World War; the place, formerly called Green Island, in memory of the young lost lives and in particular of the “Arditi”, was called “Island of the Dead”.
The walk, quiet and highly suggestive, takes place between moving historical values and interesting naturalistic aspects; the desolate bed of the Piave river with the long profile of Montello in front of it makes the landscape very fascinating in any season. The environment of the highest natural value is the habitat of many animal species, especially birds, and typical plants of the Grave.
