From Friday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, the fifth edition of the Vicenza Opera Festival, a kermesse conceived by maestro Iván Fischer and tailored to the Teatro Olimpico, will be held.
This year the Iván Fischer Opera Company changes scenery by presenting the modern opera “The Turn of the Screw” by Benjamin Britten, one of the most original dramas in opera theater. It is directed by Maestro Fischer with Marco Gandini while costumes and set design are by Anna Biagiotti and Andrea Tocchio.
As in previous editions, between the two performances of Britten’s opera on Saturday, Oct. 22, the Teatro Olimpico will host a symphony concert by the Budapest Festival Orchestra, which again this year is among the special ranking of the world’s ten best orchestras, with a performance of Joseph Haydn’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra No. 1 in C major and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major “Eroica.”
During the days of the Festival, musicians from the Budapest Festival Orchestra will take their music to a number of nursing homes and the Vicenza hospital.
Tickets are on sale on the Vivaticket circuit.
