The Natural Spa of Calalzo

The thermal centre can be reached via a path through the forest. In the winter period, access may not be easy due to the condition of the path. There are no facilities with services.

The locality’s characteristic feature is that it is made up of numerous mineral water springs that flow over the surface, creating a highly suggestive landscape.

The spring water, so rich in sulphates bicarbonates calcium and magnesium, is clinically rich in therapeutic properties.

It can be useful as a drink to improve stomach activity, to treat mild liver disorders, for diuresis and as a mild laxative.

By inhalation it is useful in the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis and inflammation of the upper airways.

Through baths, it is possible to cure skin diseases.

A place of singular beauty and Cadore’s most important archaeological site, it was already home to a Paleovenetian sanctuary dedicated to the divinity Trumusiate, who was recognised as having healing powers several centuries before the birth of Christ.

Not to be missed in Calalzo is a visit to the hamlet of Rizzios, which thanks to its isolated position preserves intact the Cadore building typology, and to the church of S. Anna where the 17th-century chasuble belonging to the Blessed Father Marco d’Aviano is preserved.

Located in the northern Dolomites, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2009, Val D’Oten, with its refuges (Chiggiato, Galassi and Capanna degli Alpini) is the gateway to the splendid Marmarole Group and the Monte Antelao massif.
