The pouring rain was not enough to stop a day full of emotions

Cortina welcomed the Giro d’Italia with open arms with a riot of cheering crowds thronged on the sides of Corso Italia, where joy exploded when crossing the finish line of the Maglia Rosa Egan Bernal.

The Dolomite stage is undoubtedly the most awaited and followed of the whole Giro, due to its altitude and scenic beauty, although unfortunately due to bad weather the route has been shortened for safety reasons, excluding two of the passes that have always marked history of cycling: the Pordoi and the Fedaia, moving the Cima Coppi to another historical point of reference, the Giau Pass.

This concludes the Venetian adventure of the Giro d’Italia, a region that has always given history and champions of cycling. In particular, the first Italian to win the Tour de France, Ottavio Bottecchia, was remembered today with the passage of the pink caravan in front of his birthplace in San Martino di Colle Umberto.
