To pedal at Prosecco Cycling, as well as from all over Italy, they will come from the United States and Canada, from Argentina and South Africa. Three continents represented: Europe, America and Africa. And the numbers are not yet definitive because registrations – up to the threshold of two thousand participants – will reopen on the eve of the event, Friday 30 September (from 14 to 19) and Saturday 1 October (from 9 to 19), at Tenuta Villa Sandi, in the locality of Zecchei, in Valdobbiadene.

As per tradition, this year too Prosecco Cycling will be characterized by a single route that will develop for 100 km, touching 13 of the 15 municipalities of the DOCG: Cison di Valmarino, Conegliano, Farra di Soligo, Follina, Miane, Pieve di Soligo, Refrontolo, Revine Lago, San Pietro di Feletto, Sernaglia della Battaglia, Susegana, Tarzo and Valdobbiadene.

The 2022 edition of Prosecco Cycling will also be enriched by the Gravel Contest, a 60 km course with 1200 meters of altitude difference destined to ride the new, overbearing “gravel” phenomenon, which means a single bike for everything, from road to dirt, from non-extreme paths to gravel. A show within a show.

Prosecco Cycling will start in the shadow of the Valdobbiadene bell tower (departure at 8.30 am) and will return here after a long ride through the hills that will alternate suggestive views and gourmet tastings. An event dedicated to environmental sustainability and designed for all enthusiasts, even the less trained: it is even possible to participate with pedal assisted bikes.

Do you think that only the fastest winners at Prosecco Cycling? Wrong. A special ranking, the Maglia Nera, will award the teams that achieve the worst average distance on three timed climbs: Ca ‘del Poggio (1.1 km with an average gradient of 13.4%), Via dei Colli (650 meters – 11 , 4%) and Collalto (1.5 km – 6.3%). The winners will also receive the black jersey, a universal symbol of slowness. The timing of the three climbs will also determine the individual classification.

There are also three other team rankings. One, called Fun Team, will crown the team that sets the best time on the entire course. With a peculiarity: the group must be made up of at least five cyclists, who will have to cross the finish line within 30 “. And, starting this year, the team that does not present at least one woman will be penalized by 15 minutes.

Another ranking will reward teams capable of placing the highest number of cyclists (minimum ten) across the finish line within 30 “, thus making the most of team compactness. Finally, the same mechanism will be applied to the new classification for mixed groups, which differs from the previous one because it is open to cyclists registered for different teams or not registered at all.

As a prelude to the 2022 edition, also the World Cycling Monuments Meeting, the important convention on environmental sustainability which on Friday 30 September, in Follina, will also involve the organizers of the TD Five Boro Bike Tour in New York (32,000 participants) and the Cape Town Cycle Tour (35,000 participants), the most attended cycling event in the world.

From Prosecco Cycling will start a message of sustainable mobility related to the most important and participated amateur cycle events in the world. A unique opportunity for the promotion of Veneto and the hills of Prosecco di Conegliano and Valdobbiadene as a destination for world cycle tourism. All this from an absolutely “green” and environmentally friendly perspective.

Also from this point of view, the team that on arrival will be able to perform a choreography that best represents the philosophy of Prosecco Cycling linked to environmental sustainability will receive a special award and will be proclaimed We2gether Team 2022.
