Kristian Ghedina and Sammy Basso uncorked the first bottle of Prosecco Solidale Le Manzane

The sparkling wine is the result of last September’s charity harvest in favour of the Treviso-based Ente Nazionale Protezione Animali (National Animal Protection Agency)

Benefit toast on Friday evening at the Le Manzane winery, where the first bottle of the new Prosecco Solidale, on sale these days to support the activities of Enpa, the Treviso section of the Ente Nazionale Protezione Animali (National Animal Protection Agency), was uncorked. Present at the event were Kristian Ghedina and Sammy Basso, MEP Gianantonio Da Re and the mayors of San Pietro di Feletto, Maria Rizzo, Tarzo, Gianangelo Bof, and Ponte di Piave, Paola Roma.

After a preview of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Docg Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry, the fruit of the 11th edition of the Vendemmia solidale that took place on 11 September among the rows of Glera vines of the Le Manzane winery, the evening continued with a chestnut tasting and live music by the Magirus Band.

“Part of the proceeds from the sale of the Prosecco Solidale bottles,’ explained Massimo Bordoni, provincial president of the Ente Nazionale Protezione Animali (National Animal Protection Agency), ‘will be used to finance the ‘caregiving’ activities that the Enpa Treviso facilities provide for people in difficulty. We are living in a moment of global economic crisis. Many families cannot make it to the end of the month and the first budget cuts concern the expenses for their four-legged friends. The Enpa Social Project, supported by the Balbinot family, is an enormous first step to ensure a dignified life for these helpless and voiceless creatures”.

“We are happy to be able to contribute, in our own small way, to the work that Enpa is doing in the area,” said Ernesto Balbinot, owner of the Le Manzane winery, who thanked the sponsors, partners and all those who took part in the solidarity grape harvest and in the evening by contributing to this year’s solidarity project.

92.20 quintals of grapes were harvested on 11 September during the Solidarity Harvest, and some 8,600 bottles were produced.
