Imoco Conegliano amazing: the panthers of Italy champions for the fourth time
Imoco Conegliano uncorks the champagne by winning his fourth tricolor title on the Novara field. After Sunday’s extraordinary victory in game 1 at Palaverde, extraordinary for its competitive intensity, Imoco Volley Conegliano takes advantage of the first match ball and wins its fourth championship, beating Novara away for 3 sets to 1 in game 2.
For the Panthers of Daniele Santarelli, champions of Europe and the world in office, the victory of last night, April 20, is the number 63 (since December 2019) in a row. The fourth tricolor confirms the almost absolute domination of the Treviso team in the national field, although Game 2 was also played on the edge of equilibrium and Novara proved to be a tough and good rival. The title of MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the finals goes to Paola Egonu, author of 35 points and simply indefensible.
A triumphal ride that of Santarelli’s team that can only be drawn in the future given that the yellow-blue Panthers have won all the games played, 24 of the regular season and 6 of the playoffs for a total of 30 round successes that mean the third tricolor in row, fourth in total (2016, 2018, 2019 and, after the break due to pandemic in 2020, this one in 2021), 12th overall trophy for the Venetian club born only in 2012.
With yesterday’s victory, the 63rd consecutive in the Imoco Volley endless streak, which began in December 2019, the national “treble” for the Panthers (Supercoppa, Coppa Italia, Scudetto) also matured, the last team to succeed in the company was Piacenza in 2013/14.
