Following Dante’s footsteps

“In Dante’s footsteps … to rediscover Treviso”
The calendar of guided tours signed by IAT Treviso (tourist office) and organized by the provincial committee UNPLI Treviso reopens. From May to September six events dedicated to Dante’s places in the city.

First appointment Saturday 8 May 2021

“Where Dante and Treviso go together …”, this is the evocative title of the new guided tours that will start on Saturday 8 May and end on 18 September.

An unprecedented proposal with which IAT Treviso (UNPLI Treviso) pays homage to the Supreme Poet on the 7th centenary of his death.

The dates selected for the tours are not in fact random but linked to recurrences in Dante’s life, from the date of his birth (uncertain, but we know that he was twins, so he came to light between 21 May and 21 June 1265) up to on the date of death, which took place on 14 September 1321.

The guided tours will be a “traveling story” of the salient moments in the life of the father of the Italian language in the places in the city of Treviso connected to him: from Ponte Dante, with the famous stele bearing the citation of the IX Canto del Paradiso, up to the church of San Francesco, where the remains of his son Pietro are kept, who died in Treviso on 21 April 1364.

Each visit will therefore reveal a little-known fragment of the poet’s personal history and the many “Dante’s” places in the city of Treviso.

This is the calendar of visits:
