Asolo Prosecco Rosé: Ermenegildo Giusti says no

With respect to the news of the introduction of Asolo Prosecco Rosé, Ermenegildo Giusti has no doubts.

«I disapprove of the choice of introducing an Asolo Prosecco Rosé and I am disappointed to see how, with 29 opinions against and only 16 in favor, we have proceeded anyway, betraying the principles of democracy. I am against it because decisions must be studied and evaluated in the long term and not in the short term, because every action has consequences ».

According to Ermenegildo Giusti, an Italian-Canadian entrepreneur at the helm of Giusti Wine, one of the main cellars of Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, this novelty does not go in the direction of promoting an extraordinary territory such as that of Asolo and Montello, but, on the contrary, it wants take advantage of the small market boom of Prosecco Rosé, which in his opinion will not lead to an increase in the value of the product but only to the risk of introducing bottles on the market that will be sold at low prices.

«I believe that the two DOCGs, that of Asolo and that of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, should have a single voice. I congratulate Elvira Bortolomiol, newly elected, for having courageously said no to this proposal and I am very sorry that our president Ugo Zamperoni has not done the same ».

“Prosecco DOC Rosé is a great opportunity offered by DOC, which has important numbers, and we ourselves have taken it with enthusiasm. – Giusti continues. – The DOCG, however, must be the essence of our extraordinary, small and precious hilly area. We can only give value by keeping the image of Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG high and working to increase the value of each bottle. Throughout my life I have promoted the excellence of Italy and its extraordinary products in the world, I believe that Prosecco Superiore DOCG is in effect one of these and as such should be valued by leaving the logic of prices “concludes the entrepreneur.
