SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2022, the first edition of Marca Bianca Gravel will take place.
On Wednesday, October 5, the presentation press conference was held at the Giusti Wine Winery.
Massimo Panighel, organizer of the event together with Eddy Sartorato, spoke, explaining the motivations for the event and the technical aspects of the route.
Mr. Ermenegildo Giusti, the host, dwelt on the importance of enhancing the value of their territory and the significant investment in the restoration of St. Eustace Abbey.
Roberta Furlan of the “Montello a tavola” Association and Giulia Casagrande president of the Marca Trevigiana Foundation then spoke.
Marca Bianca is an INCLUSIVE event, reserved for any type of bike that can tackle trails with gravel surfaces (gravel, cyclocross, mountain bikes, e-bikes, properly rubberized road bikes). It was created within the GRAVEL in the LAND of VENICE project, with the organizational and technical collaboration of Pedali di Marca and AMG Alta Marca Gravel and the logistical support of Montello a Tavola.
The start will be in a striking location: the Jonathan Collection surface airfield in Nervesa della Battaglia.
The dirt roads of the Treviso countryside, will lead you to the Tradotta bike path, a true historical monument, as it was a railway line built for World War I.
You will ride for the first time along the “sockets” of Montello, until you reach and admire Villa Correr Pisani.
You will continue pedaling in the territory of the Colli Asolani, with the passage at Villa Barbaro di Maser, sublime work of the architect Andrea Palladio, included in the Unesco heritages, to continue towards Asolo, the city of the Hundred Horizons”. You will be able to admire the Temple of Possagno, the most famous architectural work of Antonio Canova.
From the “grave” of the Piave River, you will ride up the Montello to the top of Santa Maria della Vittoria, passing the King’s Observatory and the various memorial stones of battles and heroes. You will pedal inside the Bosco della Serenissima forest until you reach the Abbey of St. Eustace.
And to give many people a chance to participate, we have designed three routes:
The long route named ANTONIO CANOVA of km. 126 and m. 1,520 in elevation gain (card-carrying members with a medical certificate for sporting activity)
The medium route named FRANCESCO BARACCA of km. 70.8 and m. 850 in elevation gain (with certificate of fitness for non-competitive sports activity)
The short route named GIOVANNI DALLA CASA of km. 39.9 and m. 160 in elevation gain (without medical certificate but with the declaration of consent that will guarantee daily insurance coverage)
Registration opened these days
- Single registration euro 20.00 until October 13, 2022 – Until this date registrations for women and children Under 18 euro 10.00 (only coverage of insurance costs).
- On-site registration on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, euro 25.00
Four refreshments will be set up along the route. At the return, the Montello a Tavola Party will be available, kindly prepared and offered by the Montello Restaurant Association of the same name.
All participants, subject to availability, will be given a nice personalized cooler bag containing local products.
