Rosita Kèss & Davide Repele unplagged
Second evening of the Officina Musicale project with Rosita Kèss.
ROSITA KESS. Singer-songwriter with a gypsy aura who took her to Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London before finding the right rhythm in New York and spending two years writing songs and recording her new album in New Orleans. “I love living in a constant state of motion and I think my music reflects that. I have some Argentine blood and the very first compositions I fell in love with were old recordings of Mercedes Soza and Ariel Ramirez that my grandmother used to play at home. I have always felt particularly sentimental listening to Tango; it is the music of immigrants, reflecting their deep sense of loss and longing for the people and places they have left behind. The inspiration comes from Afro-Argentine dance clubs where Polka, Mazurka, Waltz are mixed with the popular Habanera from Cuba and Candomble rhythms from Africa. These are the major influences in my music”. Rosita opened Bar LunÀtico in NYC in 2015, an intimate live music venue that in its first year has already hosted jazz luminaries including Madeleine Peyroux, Jon Cleary, Norah Jones, Laurie Anderson, Valerie June, Clark Gayton, and filmmaker Jonas Mekas.
DAVIDE REPELE is a blues guitarist who, as was once the case, trained mostly on his own. He picked up the instrument for the first time at the age of 8, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Maestro Mino Mistrorigo. Having had plenty of time to practice, he has now been a full-time musician for more than 10 years. Obviously he continues with blues, but he is also comfortable with Jazz and Pop. Musicians of the calibre of Sasha Torrisi (Timoria), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), Lisa Hunt (Lisa Hunt), and Cristiano de Andrè have all turned to him. But in addition to all this he also finds time to produce his own music.
